"We will lead Upbit's next leap forward through continuous service innovation and global expansion."
At the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders held on June 27, Oh Kyungseok, who was appointed as the new CEO of Dunamu, stated in his inaugural address, "We will focus on our core values with a customer-centric approach and make bold investments to ensure a strong technological and security advantage."
Oh emphasized, "Upbit is not content with being the number one domestic exchange; it is establishing itself as Korea's leading digital asset platform, directly competing in the global market based on technological prowess and trust." He added, "In 2024, Upbit achieved results that surpassed the largest exchange in the United States in terms of trading volume."
He continued, "This is clear evidence that a Korean digital asset platform is competing on the global stage with technology and trust, and it clearly demonstrates why we must continue to grow Upbit." He also explained, "Global rating agencies are also clearly recognizing these achievements."
Oh stressed that he would not be satisfied with the current situation and would drive innovation at Upbit. He said, "In recent years, the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, especially generative AI, is quickly transforming the paradigm of the digital asset market." He added, "It is demanding fundamental innovation in the core functions of digital asset platforms, such as customer service automation, abnormal transaction detection, and personalized asset management services."
He explained, "Dunamu views these technological shifts not as threats but as opportunities. We plan to further enhance the platform's competitiveness by strengthening our AI-based technology and data capabilities." He continued, "Ultimately, we will lay a solid technological foundation so that Upbit can evolve into an intelligent digital asset platform."
He further stated, "We will also take the lead in creating a healthy market environment and fulfilling our social responsibilities, based on transparent operations and the practice of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) values." He added, "We will grow Dunamu into a leading innovative company representing Korea, enabling it to compete confidently on the global stage."
Oh Kyungseok graduated from Korea University's Business Administration program. He passed the Certified Public Accountant exam in 2001 and worked at Samil Accounting Corporation. After completing the Judicial Research and Training Institute in 2008, he served as a judge at Suwon District Court, a research judge at the Supreme Court, and worked at Kim & Chang law firm. In 2016, he joined Panko Co., Ltd., an apparel company, and was appointed CEO in 2018, embarking on his career as a professional manager. He also served as an outside director at Musinsa.
