Gyeonggi Province Selects 2,552 Delegated Architects to Oversee On-Site Inspections and Examinations

Gyeonggi Province has finalized the selection of 2,552 "delegated architects" who will act on behalf of the authorities in conducting on-site inspections, examinations, and verifications during the building permit and occupancy approval processes. This is the largest number in the country.

On June 27, Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced that it had selected the delegated architects in consultation with city and county governments to ensure that permitting authorities face no obstacles in designating such professionals. However, architects who are currently suspended, have ceased or closed their business, or who have demanded or received money or valuables, have been excluded from the list of delegated architects.

The selected delegated architects will carry out on-site inspections and examinations for building permits (or notifications) and occupancy approvals on behalf of the permitting authorities in all 31 cities and counties of the province from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026. Their role is to ensure that buildings are not in violation of laws or safety regulations, thereby enabling building owners, as consumers, to conveniently use their buildings.

Park Jonggeun, Director of Architectural Policy at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Through this open recruitment, we will systematically manage on-site inspections and examinations." He added, "We will meticulously monitor for any issues in the operation of the system and prepare tailored improvement measures, continuing our efforts to provide trustworthy architectural administrative services to residents."
