Gimpo City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Byungsoo), announced on June 26 that it is publicly recruiting organizations, publishers, and local authors to participate in the '2025 Korea Reading Festival Main Event,' which will be held in September.
This recruitment aims to organize a nationwide festival together with related organizations, publishers, and authors from across the country who are working to promote a reading culture, and to provide citizens with diverse reading experiences. In particular, the city has expanded the scope of participation to offer opportunities for organizations and individuals from various fields to join the festival.
The recruitment categories include 2 to 4 partner organizations and institutions, 90 book fair booths, 10 experience booths, and 4 local authors, with plans to recruit a total of about 100 teams and individuals. In addition, approximately 20 related institutions will be selected and partnered with separately to create a more vibrant 2025 Korea Reading Festival Main Event.
Eligible participants include non-profit organizations related to books, publishers, independent publishers, individuals or organizations capable of running experience programs, and local authors registered in Gimpo City. All participants are required to take part in the entire main event, which will be held from September 19 to September 21.
Applicants will be selected through a screening process, and lecture spaces, facilities, and operational expenses necessary for running the event will be provided.
Gimpo City hopes that the festival will provide citizens with enriching experiences through a variety of reading content and activities, and serve as a platform to spread interest in reading culture.
A Gimpo City official stated, "The 2025 Korea Reading Festival is a nationwide event that brings together reading and culture," adding, "We hope to see active participation from interested organizations and individuals."

Meanwhile, Gimpo City is operating a variety of reading culture events throughout 2025 and plans to hold a vibrant reading festival from September 19 to September 21 at Gimpo Hangang Central Park & La Venetice, Janggi Library, and other venues.
