According to the Fire Headquarters on the 26th, this inspection was initiated to mark the first anniversary of the Aricell battery factory fire disaster in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. The purpose is to prevent the recurrence of similar accidents and to review the fire prevention systems at battery factories within the province.
In particular, the fire station chief will visit the sites in person to interview those in charge and will provide fire safety consulting to encourage the strengthening of autonomous safety management systems.
The inspection targets by city and county are as follows: Jeonju 1 site, Gunsan 6 sites, Iksan 11 sites, Jeongeup 1 site, Gimje 1 site, and Wanju 8 sites. The main inspection items include: ▲ checking the storage conditions of battery raw materials and finished products, ▲ inspecting fire prevention management systems, and ▲ raising awareness by sharing fire incident cases.
In addition, fire safety education will be provided to all workers, including foreign employees. The training will ensure that workers learn how to use firefighting equipment such as fire extinguishers and fully understand evacuation procedures in the event of a fire.
For foreign workers in particular, the Fire Headquarters will use educational materials prepared in six languages to ensure practical safety. The focus will be on raising safety awareness at industrial sites and establishing a culture of fire prevention.
Lee Ohsook, head of Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters, stated, "Because battery factories have a very high risk of leading to major disasters in the event of a fire, thorough preventive inspections and safety education are more important than anything else," adding, "We will continue to strengthen inspections and education to protect the lives and property of residents."
