129 Households Planned for 694 Jayang 2-dong Area
Street Housing Maintenance Project to Begin in Gwangjin District
Gwangjin District in Seoul announced on June 26 that it had issued a public notice on June 18 regarding the project implementation plan approval for the Jayang Hyundai Hyeonchang Street Housing Maintenance Project, located at 694 Jayang 2-dong and its surrounding area.
The street housing maintenance project is an initiative that improves the residential environment on a small scale while maintaining existing street layouts and without imposing additional burdens for infrastructure. It is mainly carried out for aging row houses and multi-family residences, and the simplified procedures allow for rapid progress. In Gwangjin District, this is the second such project, following the Hanyang Row House Street Housing Maintenance Project.
The target site is located at 694 Jayang 2-dong and covers an area of 4,848 square meters, with five buildings housing 36 households. All the buildings are old and substandard, consisting of low-rise three-story residences. The project implementation plan was applied for in February of this year, and after going through procedures such as public inspection and gathering of residents' opinions, as well as consultations with relevant departments, the project implementation plan was approved on June 18.
According to the plan, two apartment buildings with a total floor area of 19,330 square meters and 129 units will be constructed, ranging from two basement levels to 15 floors above ground. Transportation infrastructure connecting Jayang-ro and Cheonho-daero will be established, transforming the area into a pleasant and highly accessible residential neighborhood. The district explained that, in line with the '2040 Gwangjin Re-Creation Plan' announced last year, it will begin full-scale development of deteriorated low-rise residential areas going forward.
Kim Kyungho, Mayor of Gwangjin District, stated, "The street housing maintenance project is a practical, community-focused initiative to improve the residential environment. We will actively support the Jayang Hyundai Hyeonchang Street Housing Maintenance Project so that it can proceed quickly and efficiently." He added, "We will do our utmost to make Gwangjin District a better place to live by promoting urban development that actively reflects the opinions of residents."
