'Hamkkejaram Center' is the name of a care space created by the city to address gaps in after-school care for elementary school students. Any elementary school student in need of care can use the center, regardless of income or family structure.
The newly opened centers include Cantabill The First, which has a floor area of 1,649 square meters and a capacity of 35 children, and Hanshin The Hue, which has a floor area of 71 square meters and a capacity of 20 children. Both centers have a director and care teachers on site, providing safe and professional after-school care. The centers are operated by Segyo Welfare Foundation, a local social welfare organization specializing in community services.
The centers operate from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. during the school term, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during school vacations. The service is free of charge. With the opening of these centers, the total number of after-school care centers in Osan has increased to 24.
Lee Kwonjae, mayor of Osan City, said, "Hamkkejaram Center is a welfare infrastructure embedded in daily life, where the community raises children together and supports families," adding, "We will continue to build a comprehensive support network to ensure there are no gaps in care."
