Dong-A University Alumni Association President Shin Jungtaek Donates 100 Million Won to Development Fund

"More Alumni Support Needed for University Growth"

Dong-A University (President Lee Haewoo) announced on June 26 that Shin Jungtaek, president of Seun Steel and president of the Dong-A University Alumni Association, has donated 100 million won to the university's development fund to support his alma mater.

The donation ceremony was recently held in the main conference room of Dong-A University, attended by President Lee Haewoo, Alumni Association President Shin Jungtaek, Park Sugon, president of Songwoo Industry, and members of the university headquarters committee.

At the event, Shin Jungtaek stated, "Thanks to the dedication of the president and university members, our alma mater has achieved excellent results in projects such as Glocal University 30 and RISE. As an alumnus, I will continue to consider what more I can do and strive to further contribute to the university's development. I hope Dong-A University will continue to achieve the highest level of growth."

In response, President Lee Haewoo said, "The university's current progress has only been possible thanks to the unwavering support of our alumni. We will continue our efforts to become a university that represents the region."

Shin Jungtaek, who founded Seun Steel in 1978, is a leading figure in the Busan business community and has served as chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and chairman of the Busan Community Chest of Korea (2015?2021), earning the trust of the local community. To date, he has donated a total of 1.6 billion won to Dong-A University and has contributed more than 10 billion won to various fields, including society, education, sports, and the economy, making him a model of 'noblesse oblige.'

In recognition of his contributions, Shin Jungtaek has received numerous honors, including the Minister's Commendation at the Korea Sharing National Awards from the Ministry of Health and Welfare (2022), the Moran Medal of the Order of Civil Merit (2015), the 10 Million Dollar Export Tower at the 32nd Trade Day, the Order of Industrial Service Merit at the 24th Commerce and Industry Day, the Iron Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit at Tax Day, the Korea Creative Economy Leader Grand Prize (2013), the Proud Citizen Grand Prize (2012), the Social Responsibility Management Grand Prize (2010), the Busan Citizen Industry Grand Prize (2009), and the Respected CEO Grand Prize (2008), solidifying his reputation for dedication to both regional and national development.
