This sowing involved six lines of Jangdanbaekmok that were selected through pure line separation over the past two years. The research will not only include general growth surveys for the six lines, but also comprehensive studies on yield and disease occurrence at different times, marking the beginning of full-scale cultivation research.

Accordingly, sowing was carried out at different times?May 28, June 10, and June 24?to select superior lines through growth and yield surveys. This cultivation research is being conducted in collaboration with soybean experts from the Gyeonggi-do Regional Specialty Crop Development Association.

Jangdanbaekmok was first selected as a recommended soybean variety in Korea in 1913 and became the most widely cultivated in Gyeonggi Province. Among native Korean soybeans, it has the largest number of descendants, including Gwanggyo, which was developed in 1973 through Korea's first hybrid breeding method.

An official from Paju City stated, "Since Jangdanbaekmok was recognized globally for its value with its listing in the Ark of Taste by the International Slow Food movement last year, we will accelerate our cultivation research to ensure plant variety protection and further enhance the Paju Jangdan Soybean brand."
