Special Program to Be Held
Applications Open from June 30
The Sejong City Office of Education Safety Experience Education Center announced on June 26 that it will hold a special Saturday safety experience program on July 5 in cooperation with the Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority. The program will focus on preventing safety accidents during the summer vacation season and raising awareness of maritime transportation safety.
The theoretical education will cover topics such as how to respond to emergency situations on vessels, basic vessel safety rules, and an introduction to the types of life jackets and how to wear them properly. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in a variety of hands-on activities that are not usually available at the Safety Experience Education Center, including a two-person 4D experience, boarding a six-person life raft, and viewing an exhibition of maritime safety equipment.
Applications for participation can be submitted through the Safety Experience Education Center website starting June 30.
Ko Hyejeong, director of the Safety Experience Education Center, stated, "This special program has been organized for the summer season, when frequent weather changes such as typhoons and monsoon rains occur, and the number of vacationers increases during the summer break, raising concerns about maritime safety accidents." She added, "We expect this to be an opportunity to strengthen maritime accident prevention activities and to raise practical safety awareness." She continued, "We will continue to cooperate with the Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority to contribute to the spread of maritime transportation safety culture."
