Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Donggeun) announced on June 26 that it will be recruiting members for the "Youth Space Planning Team" until July 3. The team will be tasked with transforming an unused space located at 1314 Hoguk-ro, Uijeongbudong, into a youth cultural space.
This is a project focused on the entire process, allowing young people to directly plan programs and participate in the construction of the space itself. The Youth Space Planning Team will consist of approximately 20 members. Any young person aged 19 to 39 who resides or is active in Uijeongbu City is eligible to apply.
Starting in July, various activities will be held, including the "Youth Space Hackathon," which will plan ways to utilize the space, and "D.I.T. (Do It Together)," where participants will collaborate to decorate the interior of the youth cultural space.
The city plans to use this project to reimagine the existing unused space with ideas directly planned by young people, transforming it into a creative space where various new initiatives can be tried, and ultimately establishing it as a new youth culture platform.
Lee Youngseok, head of the Youth Policy Division, stated, "This project is more than just the creation of a space; it marks the starting point for building a sustainable youth ecosystem based on youth participation and independence. We hope to see the active interest and participation of imaginative and passionate young people."
