Pukyong National University and the National Institute of Fisheries Science have organized a forum to share current issues and future strategies in the maritime and fisheries sector.
Pukyong National University (President Bae Sanghoon) and the National Institute of Fisheries Science (Director Choi Yongseok) held a joint symposium on maritime and fisheries research on the afternoon of June 25 at the International Conference Room of the Fisheries Science Hall at Pukyong National University.
Through this symposium, the two institutions shared recent research achievements in marine and fisheries science and explored possibilities for field application and policy integration.
Centered on the College of Fisheries Science at Pukyong National University, the two institutions have carried out more than 30 joint research projects from last year to this year. The symposium consisted of presentations and Q&A sessions on 12 topics, including blue food, marine biotechnology, aquaculture technology, and fisheries resources, with over 100 researchers participating to share their achievements.
In Session 1, Professor Shim Gilbo from the Department of Food Engineering served as the moderator. Professors Um Wooram, Kim Jonghoon, and Lee Jongmin from the Department of Biotechnology, as well as Professor Fazlur Rahman Khan from the Institute of International Cooperation for Marine and Fisheries Development, gave presentations on topics such as the sustainability of fisheries resources.
Session 2 was moderated by Professor Kim Hyunwoo from the Department of Resource Biology. Presenters included Professor Lee Eonbi from the Department of Fisheries Life Medicine, Professors Shin Hyeonho and Kim Boyeon from the Department of Aquaculture Applied Life Science, and Professor Kundu Shantanu, who gave presentations on marine biotechnology and aquaculture technology.
In Session 3, Lee Jeongyong, Director of the Aquaculture Industry Research Division at the National Institute of Fisheries Science, served as the moderator. Professor Kim Chanhee from Pukyong National University and Park Jeongjun, a researcher at the Aquaculture Research Division, addressed current issues in the aquaculture industry.
President Bae Sanghoon stated, "I hope that the achievements and tasks discussed by researchers in the field of marine and fisheries science will serve as a bridge between academic and practical research," and added, "This has become an important milestone for establishing a sustainable research cooperation ecosystem."
