On June 26, the Hwaseong Western Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that they had urgently arrested a man identified as A on charges including murder.
A is suspected of injuring two men, including a man identified as B, by driving a taxi and hitting them on a road in Bibong-myeon, Hwaseong City, at around 3:31 a.m. that day.
Police were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports stating, "A taxi is driving around hitting people," and "The taxi driver is lying on the ground." However, A had already fled the scene by the time officers arrived.
At the scene, a taxi driver in his 60s was found collapsed and was transported to the hospital by emergency services, but was confirmed dead.
The Bangbae Police Station in Seoul, which received a request for cooperation, plans to transfer A to the Hwaseong Western Police Station after apprehending him.
The police, who have secured a weapon believed to have been used in the killing of the taxi driver, plan to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
