Applications accepted until August 22
Up to 180 million won in support
To foster young talent in agriculture, the installation costs for smart farms will be subsidized for young farmers.
According to Sejong City on June 26, this initiative was launched for the first time this year to support the startups of young farmers who are facing difficulties settling in the region due to high land prices. Selected participants can receive support covering up to 70% of the information and communication technology (ICT) installation costs for establishing smart farms, with a maximum limit of 180 million won.
Eligible applicants are farmers and prospective farmers under the age of 45 who either reside in Sejong City or wish to settle there. Those who do not currently reside in the region must provide proof of completion of specialized training in smart farming or horticulture, or hands-on smart farm management training. In addition, they must secure the project site within two months after being selected as a beneficiary.
Applications can be submitted until August 22 by downloading the application form from the city hall website and submitting it to the Agricultural Policy Division. The final recipients will be selected through a document review and a business plan presentation evaluation.
Lee Gipung, head of the Agricultural Policy Division, stated, "With Sejong City having the highest proportion of young residents, we expect this will invigorate agricultural startups and rural settlement among the youth." He added, "Beyond simple financial support, we will continue to provide assistance to ensure that agricultural products produced by young farmers can be sold stably."
