Israeli Military Tank Explodes in Southern Gaza Strip, Killing 7 Soldiers

"Palestinian Militant Group Planted the Bomb"

The Times of Israel reported on June 25 (local time) that an Israeli military tank operating in the Gaza Strip exploded, killing seven soldiers.


According to the Israeli military, a bomb detonated in a Puma armored engineering vehicle as it was moving in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, the previous day, causing the vehicle to catch fire. The Israeli military stated that a Palestinian militant group had planted the bomb.

As a result of the explosion, seven soldiers from the 605th Engineering Battalion, including Lieutenant Matan Shai Yashinovsky (21), who were inside the tank, were killed.


The Times of Israel reported that the total number of Israeli soldiers killed in the ground offensive in the Gaza Strip has now risen to 440.


The previous day, after Israel and Iran agreed to a ceasefire following 12 days of armed conflict at the request of U.S. President Donald Trump, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir stated, "The focus is shifting back to the Gaza Strip," adding, "We will bring the hostages home and dismantle the Hamas regime."
