Yeosu City, South Jeolla Province (Mayor Chung Kimyung), announced on the 25th that it held an explanatory meeting on the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo for the Chungmu-dong community leaders on the 24th, and that it is continuing full-scale relay promotional activities to spread a culture of citizen participation.
This explanatory meeting was the second event in a series of promotional activities touring local towns and districts, which began in Yeocheon-dong on the 18th. The meeting was organized to provide information on the expo’s overview and progress, present ways for citizens to participate, and encourage their involvement.
The community leaders who attended the meeting discussed and explored various ways to ensure the success of the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo, such as purchasing advance tickets and participating in everyday promotional activities for the expo, thereby helping to boost enthusiasm at the event.
A city official stated, “We plan to continue holding explanatory meetings by sequentially visiting local towns and districts, and to strengthen promotional activities aimed at building consensus among citizens and establishing a foundation for their active participation.”
Meanwhile, the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo will be held from September 5 to November 4 next year. At the main venue in Dolsan Jinmo District, eight exhibition halls?including the Islands Pavilion and World Islands Restaurant?will be operated. In addition, various hands-on programs, such as family island camps, will take place on islands including Geumo-do and Gae-do, alongside the international academic conference.
