This meeting was organized to share the city's policy direction with residents and to listen to vivid opinions on local issues.
The event saw the participation of more than 60 people, reflecting high interest, including Mayor Baek Nakho, Lee Woochung, a member of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council, Lee Seungwoo, Vice Chairman of the Gimcheon City Council, Jeong Jaejeong, Chairman of the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts, as well as key figures, heads of organizations and institutions, and residents.
In his greeting, Mayor Baek emphasized, "Gimcheon City has set 'A Communicative Gimcheon, Opening the Future Together' as its administrative goal," and added, "We will continue to engage in dialogue with residents and reflect your opinions in our policies to realize citizen-centered administration."
Mayor Baek then gave a presentation explaining Gimcheon City's main policy directions and regional development strategies, and presented a concrete vision and practical measures for the future development of Daesindong.
In particular, he placed emphasis on resident-oriented administration, specifically ▲ balanced regional development, ▲ expansion of living infrastructure, and ▲ revitalization of culture and tourism.
During the meeting, residents voiced a variety of suggestions. These included ▲ securing children's play spaces around Daesin Koaru, ▲ improving areas near Sineum Post Office that are prone to frequent flooding, and ▲ expanding public parking lots to address the shortage of parking spaces. These were all civil complaints closely related to daily life.
There was also continued positive feedback regarding the 'Daesin on : Festa,' which was successfully held on June 14. Residents proposed that, since the festival contributed to revitalizing the local commercial district, it is necessary to expand the scale of future festivals and diversify their content. In response, Mayor Baek stated, "With proactive support from the city, we will foster Daesindong as Gimcheon's leading cultural and tourism destination."
One attending resident said, "I trust the mayor's efforts to share the direction of administration with citizens and to listen directly to our opinions," and added, "I hope that through continued communication, Gimcheon will develop into a city where citizens are the true owners."
Mayor Baek stated, "The valuable opinions shared today will be reviewed by the relevant departments and we will strive to reflect them in practical policies," and added, "We will continue to pursue open administration that moves one step closer to the citizens."
Starting with this meeting, Gimcheon City plans to continue on-site communication in each region, focusing on resolving local issues and enhancing policy implementation based on dialogue with residents.
