On June 25, Korea Development Bank (KDB) announced that it has achieved meaningful results in attracting overseas investment and supporting the overseas market entry of domestic companies, leveraging intergovernmental investment cooperation channels and its global network established in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
KDB's global "investment proposal delivery system," which is currently in operation, is expanding investment cooperation not only with sovereign wealth funds from the Middle East and Asia, such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore, but also with major pension funds worldwide, including those in Australia and Canada.
KDB highlighted the recent case on June 3, in which domestic biotech company Aribio signed an exclusive licensing agreement worth KRW 810 billion (USD 600 million) with global pharmaceutical company Arcera for the Alzheimer's disease treatment AR1001, as a representative success story of its global investment proposal delivery system.
KDB emphasized that it has delivered more than 100 investment proposals to global investment institutions to date, and, in the process, has facilitated various forms of technology transfer, direct and indirect investments, and strategic partnerships.
Yang Seungwon, Vice President of KDB (Global Business Division), stated, "The Aribio case is a meaningful example of an exclusive licensing agreement achieved through the global investment proposal delivery system," adding, "Many domestic companies are opening doors to cooperation with global investment institutions under the support of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and KDB."
