Uijeongbu City Holds 75th Anniversary Event
Honoring Korean War Veterans and Promoting the Values of Freedom and Peace
Uijeongbu City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Donggeun) held a commemorative event on the 25th to honor the sacrifice and dedication of Korean War veterans and to reaffirm the values of freedom and peace, marking the 75th anniversary of the 6·25 War.

The event, held under the theme "A Nation Protected by Heroes, a Republic of Korea to Carry On," was attended by more than 140 people, including 6·25 War veterans and their families, heads of veterans' and security organizations, members of the National Assembly, and provincial and city council members.
The ceremony began with the national pledge and proceeded with the following: commendations for exemplary national merit recipients, congratulatory and commemorative speeches, words of encouragement, a dedication song for Colonel Jang Saepung performed by the Uijeongbu City Choir, and a group singing of the "Song of 6·25."
Lee Seokhyeong, head of the Uijeongbu branch of the 6·25 War Veterans Association, said, "Through today's event, we are reminded once again of the tragic reality of the 6·25 War, and I hope that the horrors of war will never be repeated on this land. I also hope that future generations will carry on the noble spirit of the 6·25 veterans."
Mayor Kim Donggeun stated, "The Republic of Korea exists today because of the countless heroes who devoted themselves to protecting the nation during the brutal war. We will redouble our efforts to promote honor by advancing veterans' policies aimed at expanding the culture of remembrance and strengthening respect for our veterans."
