Kevin Hwang Shares Special Forces Service on Social Media
Appears to Have Been Deployed After October Wedding Last Year
"Promoted to Major and Received a Medal"
Kevin Liu Hwang, the husband of Choi Minjeong, the second daughter of SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, is reportedly serving at the United States Central Special Operations Joint Task Force (CSOJTF-C) in the Middle East. He has drawn attention for reportedly participating in Israel's recent airstrike operation against Iran.

According to business circles on June 25, Hwang posted on his social networking service, LinkedIn, the previous day, "I thought being assigned to the Joint Military Headquarters in the Middle East would be less hectic than serving in Ukraine or at the Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM). However, I never imagined that such events would unfold in just six months."
He added, "The Assad regime has collapsed, and the Houthi rebels have surrendered to our bombings. We also participated in operations directly bombing Iranian territory together with Israel."
Hwang carried out the operation to oust the Bashar al-Assad regime in Syria in December last year and participated in the operation to expel the Houthi rebels in Yemen earlier this month. He is also believed to have taken part in the operation on June 22 (local time), in which the United States used B-2 stealth bombers and Tomahawk missiles to conduct precision strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
Given that Hwang married Minjeong at the Grand Walkerhill Hotel Seoul in October last year, it appears he was deployed to the Middle East shortly after the wedding.
CSOJTF-C is a command that integrates and leads special operations in the Middle East, conducting special operations and counter-terrorism missions in cooperation with coalition forces such as Israel and Saudi Arabia.
Hwang stated, "I achieved personal milestones, including being promoted to Major?an opportunity with less than a 2% selection rate in my subgroup?and receiving a commendation medal. Even during Iran's missile attacks, I secured $550,000 in investment for a new startup venture."
Hwang, a Chinese-American, graduated from Harvard University and earned an MBA from Stanford University. While serving as a reserve officer in the United States Marine Corps, he founded and operated a software startup in California.
