Daejeon Technopark announced on the 25th that on the 23rd (local time), it had signed a four-party memorandum of understanding for global 3D printing technology cooperation in Munich, Germany, with EOS AMCM, a global company in the field of metal 3D printers, the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, and Hanbat National University.

This agreement is part of the "Defense and Space Materials and Components 3D Printing Joint Manufacturing Center Establishment Project" promoted by the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation. The project aims to build 3D printing infrastructure, foster technological cooperation, and nurture talent within the Daejeon Industrial Complex and related industrial complexes.

Daejeon City was selected for this project in April of last year and secured 15 billion won in national funding. The city plans to establish a 25 billion won supply base for 3D printing materials and components by 2027.

Under the agreement, the four institutions plan to collaborate on various initiatives, including jointly hosting the "AM (Additive Manufacturing) Experts' Day Workshop" and providing technical support and education to secure operational capabilities for large-scale metal PBF (Powder Bed Fusion) additive manufacturing.

The EOS Group, headquartered in Munich, Germany, is a global leader in the field of metal 3D printing, holding about a 15% share of the global metal additive manufacturing market. EOS AMCM is an independent subsidiary of the EOS Group dedicated to developing customized high-performance metal 3D printing platforms.

Kim Wooyeon, President of Daejeon TP, said, "Through cooperation with global 3D printing company EOS, the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, and Hanbat National University, we have established a foundation for introducing world-class 3D printing equipment operation and technology."
