Name of Lee Jaemyung Administration's Public Communication Platform Confirmed as "Modueui Gwangjang" (Everyone's Square)
2,336 Policy Proposals Submitted Since Launch
Platform Open Until July 23
The National Policy Planning Committee, which serves as the transition team for President Lee Jaemyung, announced that it has officially named the online public communication platform it has been operating since June 18 as "Modueui Gwangjang" (Everyone's Square). The name reflects the concept of an open space where all citizens and the government communicate on an equal footing and collaboratively design the future.
This name was chosen by gathering public input. A naming contest was held over three days from June 18 to 20, during which a total of 4,544 suggestions were submitted. The final decision was made based on a public preference survey and internal review.
"Modueui Gwangjang" is an AI-based platform designed to enable two-way communication between the public and the government. It gathers, discusses, and analyzes public opinions and proposals in the fields of economy, society, foreign affairs and security, and politics and administration, in order to enhance transparency and trust in policy-making. Until July 23, anyone can propose policies by simply completing a quick authentication process on the platform. Since its launch, as of midnight on June 24, a total of 259,828 public opinions have been submitted. Of these, 2,336 are policy proposals.
A representative from the National Policy Planning Committee stated, "We plan to operate a discussion board within the platform so that people can freely exchange opinions on topics that receive high levels of public support among the proposals." The representative added, "Offline, we will hold 'Everyone's Debates,' where ordinary citizens, relevant experts, and government officials will participate together for in-depth discussions." Starting in July, the committee plans to operate the "Modueui Sotong Bus" (Everyone's Communication Bus) in four regions: Gangwon, Gyeongsang, Chungcheong, and Honam.
