Goheung County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Gong Youngmin) announced on June 25 that it had signed a business agreement with LH (Korea Land and Housing Corporation) on June 24 at Palyongsan Hall in the county office to officially launch the public rental housing project for elderly welfare.

The signing ceremony was attended by Governor Gong Youngmin, Yoo Byungyong, Head of LH Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Headquarters, and about 10 other officials. They reaffirmed their commitment to establishing a cooperative system for the smooth implementation of the project and to jointly promoting the initiative.

The public rental housing project for elderly welfare is a contest project supervised by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. After being selected for the contest, the county held business consultations with LH and completed LH's internal management and investment review last month. This business agreement was prepared as a step toward signing the implementation agreement.

The project site is located in Yongjeong-ri, Doyang-eup, and a total project budget of 45.2 billion KRW will be invested (14.9 billion KRW from the national government, 13.9 billion KRW from funds, and 16.4 billion KRW from the county). According to the plan, a mixed-use building combining 150 rental apartment units and social welfare facilities will be constructed.

This project is particularly significant as it is a complex residential welfare facility designed to provide a comfortable living environment and customized welfare services for local seniors, in response to Goheung County's status as having the highest aging rate in the country.

Governor Gong Youngmin stated, "This agreement is not just about providing housing, but marks the starting point for establishing a new senior residential welfare model in Goheung that combines welfare and housing." He added, "We will work closely with LH to create a high-quality welfare infrastructure that the residents can truly experience."
