"Same-Day and Next-Day Delivery in Rural Areas"... Amazon Expands Service to 4,000 Locations in the US

Expansion of Same-Day and Next-Day Delivery Services
Plans to Invest Over 5.4 Trillion Won

Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce company, is expanding its same-day and next-day delivery services to more than 4,000 small towns and rural areas across the United States.

On June 24 (local time), Amazon announced that it plans to invest over $4 billion (5.4 trillion won) by 2026 as part of this initiative.

As a result, millions of customers living in small towns and rural areas such as Asbury, Iowa; Fort Seneca, Ohio; and Lewes, Delaware will now be able to access Amazon's fast Prime delivery service.

Amazon explained that this expansion is not simply about increasing delivery speed. The company stated that its purpose is to transform the daily lives of rural customers who live far from offline stores, have fewer product and brand choices, and face limited delivery options when shopping online.

Amazon has made fast delivery a core strategy to stay ahead in competition with offline retail giants such as Walmart. Since the beginning of this year, the number of products delivered same-day or next-day within the United States has increased by more than 30% compared to last year. Throughout last year, Amazon delivered over 9 billion products through its fast delivery services.

This expansion of Amazon's delivery services comes ahead of a major discount event. From July 8 to July 11, Amazon will hold its 'Prime Day' event for a total of 96 hours, exclusively for Amazon Prime members.
