Mayor Byungsu Kim Conducts On-Site Administration
at Modam Library and Gimpo Bandabi Sports Center
Gimpo City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Byungsu Kim) announced on the 24th that it held an "On-site Inspection Report Meeting" at Modam Library and Gimpo Bandabi Sports Center.

The first site to be inspected was Modam Library, which, after resolving land issues following the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration, opened as Gimpo's largest public library 14 years after preparations began. With one basement level and three above-ground floors, the library features facilities such as a children's reading room and a general reading room, allowing visitors to enjoy a wide range of cultural experiences including reading, music, and art.
Mayor Byungsu Kim conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Modam Library's facilities and requested improvements to amenities such as walkways to ensure greater convenience for citizens. He also called for the acquisition of additional collections to allow users to enjoy a deeper reading culture.
Gimpo Bandabi Sports Center, which opened in May, is an integrated sports facility prioritizing accessibility for people with disabilities. The center has one basement level and three above-ground floors, and is equipped with a swimming pool, gym, multipurpose gymnasium, and care center. More than 2,000 citizens use the programs offered by the center each month.
Mayor Kim emphasized the need for ongoing review and improvement of necessary spaces and facilities, given that the center prioritizes use by people with disabilities. He also instructed staff to closely monitor user inconveniences and suggestions and to actively reflect them in improvements.
Mayor Kim reiterated, "Modam Library and Gimpo Bandabi Sports Center are important complex cultural spaces in Gimpo City that encompass both reading culture and sports. Now, they must go beyond this role and become key hubs leading the culture of Gimpo City," stressing the need for creative and proactive operational strategies.
