Donald Trump, President of the United States, who announced the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, stated on the 23rd (local time) that both countries approached him almost simultaneously and mentioned "peace."

In a post on the social networking service Truth Social after making the ceasefire agreement public, President Trump wrote, "Israel and Iran came to me almost at the same time and said 'peace,'" adding, "I knew that now was the right time (for a ceasefire and an end to the conflict)." This is interpreted as an attempt to highlight his significant role as a mediator for "peace through strength" in reaching the ceasefire agreement between the two countries.

President Trump had directly intervened in the conflict by deciding on a U.S. military strike against Iranian nuclear facilities on the 21st, taking a confrontational stance against Iran. However, his statement implies that this decision ultimately led to an early ceasefire agreement. Along with this, President Trump declared, "The world and the Middle East are the true winners," and said, "Both countries will see tremendous love, peace, and prosperity in their future."

President Trump also warned, "They will gain much, but if they stray from the path of justice and truth, they will lose much." He added, "The future of Israel and Iran is limitless and filled with great hope," and concluded, "May God bless both countries!"

Earlier that day, President Trump announced via Truth Social that Israel and Iran had agreed to halt the armed conflict that began on the 12th (U.S. Eastern Time).

President Trump stated, "After approximately six hours, once both countries complete their current final missions, a 12-hour ceasefire will begin, and thereafter, the war will be considered ended." According to his explanation, Iran will first enter a 12-hour ceasefire (halting attacks against Israel), followed by Israel implementing its own 12-hour ceasefire (halting attacks against Iran). As a result, the war will be officially concluded as of midnight on the 25th local time (Washington, D.C. time).

Despite President Trump's ceasefire announcement, airstrikes are reportedly continuing in both countries as of now. Citing Israeli authorities, U.S. broadcaster CNN reported that a missile struck a residential building in Beersheba, killing three people and injuring six. This report came after President Trump announced at 7 a.m. (Korean time) that the two countries had agreed to a ceasefire.
