Equipped with LLM-Based Multimodal Emotion Analysis
Automatic Crisis Detection and Immediate Counseling Connection
HelpTeacher announced on June 24 that it has completed the development of its next-generation psychological care solution, the "AI Unmanned Counseling Room," and has begun pilot operations.
The AI Unmanned Counseling Room is equipped with South Korea's first large language model (LLM)-based multimodal emotion analysis technology. It simultaneously recognizes voice, facial expressions, and text to analyze emotional states in real time, while a GPT-based LLM model provides empathetic conversations to users.
In particular, it features an automatic summary and analysis function that stores counseling content as a report, as well as an automatic text alert system that immediately connects users to professional counselors in the event of a crisis.
A HelpTeacher representative explained, "The AI Counseling Room addresses various existing counseling-related issues by alleviating the shortage of professional counselors, enabling 24-hour counseling, and ensuring the security of counseling results."
The AI Counseling Room is available as an unmanned kiosk that can be installed in schools, libraries, military bases, public institutions, welfare facilities, and more. Users can enter the counseling room and express their emotional state anonymously and without face-to-face interaction. The system recognizes this and provides appropriate verbal responses and emotional support.
Counseling sessions are conducted one-on-one with the AI counselor, and both the conversation and emotional state are analyzed in real time by the AI, which has been trained on clinical psychology data from clinical psychology PhDs. If high-risk signs indicating potential incidents or accidents?such as suicide risk, abuse, or violence?are detected, an immediate text alert is sent to a professional counselor at the relevant institution. This is then followed by face-to-face counseling or in-depth intervention by a professional counselor.
Additionally, after the session, a counseling report generated by the AI in PDF format can be shared with guardians, counselors, and institutions, and used for crisis response or as material for follow-up counseling.
HelpTeacher is currently preparing demonstration projects in cooperation with various organizations, including education offices and local governments. In the future, the company plans to expand into global markets with high demand for psychological care, such as Japan, Singapore, and the United States. To this end, it is also developing a multilingual emotion recognition model, international security certifications such as HIPAA, and a SaaS-based report platform in parallel.
Lee Kyungmin, CEO of HelpTeacher, stated, "Counseling should no longer be limited to specific situations; it should become an everyday infrastructure that allows anyone to check in on themselves and practice self-care in daily life. Through the AI Counseling Room, we hope to realize equal access to emotional care and contribute to data-driven social-emotional policies."
