A man in his 40s was apprehended by police after he drove his car into a police station out of dissatisfaction at being caught by a speed enforcement camera.
Suncheon Police Station in South Jeolla Province announced on the 23rd that they had detained Mr. A on charges of special trespassing on a building and special damage to public property, and are currently investigating him.
Mr. A is accused of driving his sport utility vehicle (SUV) into the police station building at around 8:23 p.m. that day.
The SUV crashed through the glass entrance and came to a stop after hitting an interior wall of the building. Fortunately, there were no injuries as no police officers were nearby at the time.
Mr. A, who was arrested at the scene, was not intoxicated. During police questioning, he reportedly stated that he acted out of anger after being repeatedly caught by speed enforcement cameras. Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
