Recruitment of Four Urban Residents Interested in Returning to Farming
Applications Accepted Until June 30
Geochang County in South Gyeongsang Province is now accepting applications for the "2025 Return to Farming: Experience Living in a Rural Village" program until June 30. This initiative is designed to help urban residents experience rural life firsthand and prepare for a stable transition to farming.
This program is open to urban residents who wish to return to farming and currently live outside Geochang County. The recruitment target is three households, totaling four people: two single-person households and one two-person household.
Participants will live in Gomnaemi Village, located in Ungyang-myeon, Geochang County, which was selected as an outstanding village for the 2024 Experience Living in a Rural Village program. They will take part in a variety of activities, including hands-on experience with cultivating Shine Muscat grapes, apples, and strawberries, as well as educational sessions related to returning to farming, and programs to learn about housing and farmland. All expenses for accommodation and education required for their stay will be fully covered, and each participant will receive a monthly activity allowance of 100,000 KRW.
The program will run for approximately six months, from July 7 to December 23, 2025. Graduates of the program will be given priority for moving into a "Returnee House" within Geochang County.
Kim Gyutae, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "By allowing urban residents to experience rural life in advance, this program will greatly help them develop realistic settlement plans. In addition to this program, Geochang County also operates various farming support and educational programs for those returning to farming or moving to rural areas."
Applications for the "Experience Living in a Rural Village" program can be submitted through the "Experience Information - Living Experience - Apply" section of "Greendaero," the official portal for returning to farming and rural migration in Korea.
