The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on June 24 that, together with the Korea Testing Laboratory (Performance Safety Support Center), it will hold the 'First Half Performance Safety Management System Briefing Session' for local government officials responsible for performance and venue safety on June 24 and 25, and gather on-site feedback. The briefing session is scheduled to take place in Seoul on June 24 and in Daejeon on June 25.
During the session, participants will receive training on the performance safety management system and the revised 'Performance Act.' The session will also explain the process for venue operators to report disaster response plans to local governments, as well as response strategies. In addition, the session will provide guidance on mandatory requirements for installing fire curtains in performance venues and outline procedures for reporting and responding to safety incidents.
The Ministry will offer detailed instruction on topics that local officials have frequently asked about, such as how to conduct safety training for performers and how to manage audience safety during performances held outside of traditional venues. The session will also cover how to register disaster response plans and input safety history into the Performance Safety Information System. Recent safety incidents will be analyzed to raise awareness about accident prevention and to emphasize the importance of on-site supervision and control to prevent recurrence.
In particular, considering that the summer season sees a rise in performances held outside of regular venues, such as at local events and festivals, the session will outline various inspection items to prevent crowd accidents, step-by-step response methods for heat waves, and emergency procedures. The event will also provide a forum for proposing improvements to safety regulations, sharing best practices by officials, and discussing support measures for safety, thereby fostering consensus among central government agencies, local governments, and on-site personnel.
A Ministry policy official stated, "Through this briefing session, we plan to enhance the safety awareness of local government officials and strengthen proactive accident prevention activities. We will also reflect the on-site feedback gathered during the session in our performance safety management system, and work to reinforce a collaborative framework for performance safety management with the Performance Safety Support Center, local governments, and the private sector."
