According to the semiconductor industry on June 23, SSI has posted job openings on its recruitment website for experienced professionals in the foundry sector. The recruitment covers three positions related to foundry: Director and Manager of Foundry Sales and Business Development, and a Senior Manager specializing in engineering who will be responsible for quality control of client products. The Senior Manager position is open to candidates at the deputy general manager level.

In an unusual move, Samsung Electronics has specified the base annual salaries for the positions being recruited. The Director can earn up to $319,800 (approximately 443 million KRW), while the Senior Manager can receive up to $289,050 (about 400.71 million KRW). In addition, bonuses are available for achievements such as acquiring new clients. Including bonuses, the total compensation could reach up to $400,000 (around 554 million KRW). This is considered a significant amount even within the local industry. The explicit disclosure of such detailed salary information is seen as an indication that Samsung Electronics is making every effort to attract top talent and secure clients.

Previously, in March, Samsung Electronics recruited Margaret Han, formerly of TSMC?the world’s leading foundry based in Taiwan?as Executive Vice President in charge of the foundry business. The company is also reportedly expediting the completion of its foundry plant currently under construction in Taylor, Texas, aiming to begin operations by the end of next year. Samsung Electronics appears determined not to miss out on the growing market for AI-related application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), which is being driven by U.S. fabless companies such as Broadcom.
