Busan International Film Festival Selects Fourteen Films for Asian Cinema Fund Support

"Featuring Diverse Perspectives
and Sharp Social Awareness"

The Busan International Film Festival announced on June 23 that it has selected fourteen films this year for the Asian Cinema Fund, its film production support program. The selections include three projects for the Feature Film Incubator Fund, four for the Feature Film Post-Production Fund, and seven for the AND Fund for feature-length independent documentaries. A festival representative stated, "These works can demonstrate new possibilities for Asian cinema with their diverse perspectives and sharp social awareness."

The Feature Film Incubator Fund selections are "Angel of the Black Star" by Armenian director Kristin Harutyunyan, "Heaven Help Us" by Filipino director Yves Baswell, and "A New Life" by Chinese director Li Yingtong. These projects will each receive 10 million won for script development and will be invited as official projects to the Asian Project Market, where they will have the opportunity for business meetings.


The films selected for the Post-Production Fund will receive support for their post-production work and will have their world premieres at the Busan International Film Festival in September. The selected works are "Coming of Age" by director Jung Seungoh, "One Winter Night" by Indian director Sanju Surendran, "The Observer's Journal" by director Lim Junghwan, and "The River That Holds Our Hands" by Hong Kong, China, and Vietnam director Chen Jianhang.


The projects chosen for the AND Fund will receive support from the AND Fund and the opportunity to be invited to the Asian Contents & Film Market, where film production and investment companies participate. The selected works are "Kampuchea" by Cambodian-French director Neary Adeline Hay, "Oma" by Indonesian, Filipino, French, and Dutch director Armin Septiexan, "Our Complex" by director Johanna, "Sea, Stars, Woman" by Korean-French director Lim Junghye, "Even a Sprouting Potato Becomes a Seed Potato in the Sun" by director Yang Dayeon, "Untitled (Working Title)" by Myanmar director Min Min Hein, and "Growth Rings of Concrete" by director Kwon Sunhyun.
