Recruitment of 390 Participants for the Special Health Checkup Program
On June 23, Sejong City announced that it will be recruiting participants for the "Special Health Checkup Program for Women Farmers" until July 22, in order to prevent occupational diseases and promote health and welfare among women farmers.
This program provides 90% financial support for checkups and specialist preventive consultations targeting major diseases among women farmers, such as musculoskeletal disorders, fractures, and pesticide poisoning. The original cost of the checkup is 220,000 won per person, but program participants only need to pay 22,000 won out of pocket to receive both the checkup and consultation.
The city plans to select 390 participants for the program. If the number of applicants exceeds the available spots, the city will consider factors such as whether the applicant resides in a rural area, age, and years of farming experience when selecting participants.
Eligible applicants are women farmers who are registered as agricultural business operators, reside in the region, and were born in odd-numbered years between the ages of 51 and 70. Those born in even-numbered years can apply during next year's recruitment period.
The designated medical institution for the checkup is NK Sejong Hospital. Selected participants should make a phone reservation with the hospital and then visit for their checkup. Women farmers who wish to apply for the program should visit their local eup, myeon, or dong administrative office during the application period.
Lee Gipung, head of the Agricultural Policy Division, stated, "Women farmers often perform both household chores and farm work compared to male farmers, resulting in a higher amount of physical labor," adding, "We hope this program will help prevent diseases to which women farmers are particularly vulnerable."
