Incentives for Facilities with Outstanding Implementation Results
The Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office announced that on June 24, it will sign a voluntary agreement with 16 total emission management facilities in the southern region at the Yeosu Venezia Hotel to reduce air pollutants. This agreement is a measure to address environmental issues such as the climate crisis and high concentrations of ozone, and to promote sustainable development in which the local community and businesses can coexist.
The main points include establishing and implementing targets for reducing air pollutants, and making efforts to reduce emissions during periods of high concentrations of fine dust and ozone. The participating facilities will voluntarily strive to emit less than their permitted total emissions, with a goal of emitting less than 95% of their total allowance this year.
The Environmental Office plans to evaluate the implementation results of the agreement, awarding certificates to outstanding facilities and providing incentives such as reductions in penalty surcharges. Previously, during 2023 and 2024, 14 facilities participated and achieved a total reduction of 8,683 tons (53%).
