Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province is launching a call for entries for the "2025 Jeonbuk Night Tour Top 10 Destinations."

The competition is not limited to places with beautiful scenery. Eligible locations include venues based on immersive nighttime content, such as village festivals infused with traditional culture, performances by local artists, city parks featuring food trucks and night markets, and waterfront spaces enhanced by light shows.

The competition categories are: ▲Natural Scenery ▲Urban Landmark ▲Cultural and Historical ▲Festival and Event ▲Entertainment ▲Marine and Waterfront. Each city or county may submit up to three locations.

After expert review, a final list of ten destinations will be selected. These sites will receive intensive online and offline promotion and marketing from August through the end of the year. The province plans to establish the brands "Jeonbuk, a Place to Stay Even at Night" and "Jeonbuk, the Night Tourism City" centered around these destinations.

Recent travel trends are shifting from short, consumption-based visits to longer, immersive stays. Night views and night markets in particular encourage visitors to linger, while cultural performances and food content stimulate spending. In response to these trends, the province has planned this competition to extend tourism activities into the nighttime and generate tangible economic ripple effects for the local economy.

Many locations throughout the province, including Muju, Wanju, Gunsan, and Jeongeup, already show strong potential as nighttime attractions. This project is expected to provide an opportunity for such places to be reborn as Jeonbuk's signature nighttime tourism resources. The core objective is to build a sustainable nighttime tourism ecosystem where both local residents and visitors can come together, moving beyond simple sightseeing.

Following the selection process, the province also plans to advance branding and content development, create seasonal programs, and develop products in collaboration with local businesses. In particular, SNS viral marketing targeting the MZ generation and family travelers, as well as transportation-linked models such as the "Jeonbuk Night Tour Bus," are under consideration.

Lee Jeongseok, Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, "This competition marks a turning point in transforming the nights across Jeonbuk into a stage for travel," and added, "We will strategically nurture nighttime tourism resources to widely promote Jeonbuk's nighttime scenery, which is even more beautiful than during the day, both domestically and internationally."
