Increase in Advanced 2 Buses from Three to Four
Expansion of Joint Operation of M1 Metropolitan Bus between Daejeon and Sejong
Daejeon City announced that starting from June 27, it will introduce a new city bus Route 123 and add one more bus to the Advanced 2 route, which circulates through the International Science Business Belt section.
Route 123 is a new line connecting Wonnae-dong, Doandaero, Doandong-ro, and Guam Station. It will pass through Doandaero, Oncheon-dong-ro, and Munhwawon-ro, areas that previously had no city bus service.
The 'Advanced 2' bus, which currently operates in a loop connecting the International Science Business Belt District and Daedeok Research Complex, will increase its fleet from three to four buses. This measure aims to alleviate passenger congestion during commuting hours and improve transportation convenience for employees of research institutions.
In addition, Daejeon City will jointly operate the M1 metropolitan express bus route, which is currently run solely by Sejong City. As a result, both municipalities will manage the route together, further strengthening the connectivity and operational stability of the metropolitan transportation system between Daejeon and Sejong.
Nam Sideok, Director of the Daejeon City Transportation Bureau, stated, "This adjustment to bus routes is a proactive measure to minimize inconvenience to citizens that may arise from urban development, changes in the transportation environment, and tram construction," adding, "We will continue to pursue flexible and efficient public transportation policies that respond to changing transportation demand."
