Gangdong-gu to Hold "Grand Design" Regional Forums Starting July 9

Discussing Urban Development Directions with Residents

Seoul's Gangdong-gu will hold the "Gangdong Grand Design Citizen Forum" three times by region, starting from July 9. This forum has been organized to listen to the real voices of local residents as the "Gangdong Grand Design Urban Development Implementation Plan" nears completion.

Gangdong-gu to Hold "Grand Design" Regional Forums Starting July 9 Provided by Gangdong-gu.

The "Gangdong Grand Design" is a mid- to long-term urban development plan that outlines the vision for Gangdong in 2040, covering all areas such as urban planning, transportation, jobs and economy, parks and green spaces, and population. The implementation plan is currently in its final stages. Through this forum, the district aims to broaden residents' consensus and further specify the direction for realizing "Grand Gangdong with 500,000 Residents" as envisioned by the community.

The forum will be held sequentially in three regions, divided based on local relevance and ease of access: Gangil·Sangil·Myeongil·Godeok, Amsa·Cheonho, and Seongnae·Gildong·Dunchon. During the forum, the district will share the urban development direction of the "Gangdong Grand Design" with residents, gather opinions on visions for each living area and fostering local centers, discuss detailed utilization plans for local social infrastructure (living SOC), and collect suggestions on problems and improvements in the living environment.

Residents attending the forum will be able to freely propose and discuss current issues and development directions for the areas in which they live. Registration for forum participants will be open from June 23 to July 6, with approximately 220 people (about 10 per neighborhood) selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications can be submitted in advance online (via Naver Form and QR code) or by recommendation. Detailed information can be found in the "Gangdong News" section of the Gangdong-gu website.

Lee Soohee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, "This citizen forum is a meaningful occasion for residents to once again directly participate in shaping Gangdong's future, following the event in 2023." She added, "It will be a valuable opportunity to discuss the future vision for each living area as desired by our 500,000 residents, and to listen firsthand to their voices regarding local infrastructure."
