Gyeonggi Province to Accept Third Quarter Applications for "Youth Basic Income" from July 1... 250,000 Won per Quarter

Gyeonggi Province will accept applications for the third quarter (July to September) of the "Gyeonggi Youth Basic Income," which provides 250,000 won per quarter and up to 1 million won per year in local currency to young people, from July 1 to August 11.

Eligible applicants are those who, as of the application date, are registered residents of Gyeonggi Province and are 24 years old as of July 1, 2025, having either continuously resided in Gyeonggi Province for at least three years or having a total residence period of at least ten years. Foreign nationals, individuals with unknown residence status, youth residing in Seongnam City (where the Youth Basic Income ordinance has been abolished), and youth in Goyang City (where the budget has not been allocated this year) are not eligible to participate.

Applications can be submitted through Gyeonggi Province's job platform "Jobaba" (apply.jobaba.net). If applicants consent to the use of public MyData, their resident registration abstract (issued after July 1 and including address history for the past five years or the entire period) will be automatically submitted. Basic livelihood security recipients must submit a separate certificate.

Those who agreed to automatic application in the previous quarter will be included in the screening process without any additional procedures. However, if there have been changes in personal information or if retroactive application is desired for past quarters (from the fourth quarter of 2024 to the second quarter of 2025), information must be updated during this application period. Additionally, youth who were not selected in the previous quarter are not eligible for automatic application and must submit a new application.

If selected as a recipient for the third quarter, applicants will receive 250,000 won in local currency starting September 10, regardless of employment or graduation status, or income and asset levels. The local currency will be provided in either electronic card or mobile form. It can be used at affiliated stores in the city or county of residence, and is valid for three years from the date of issuance. It cannot be used at department stores, large discount stores, corporate supermarkets (SSMs), or entertainment venues.

In February, Gyeonggi Province initially planned to restrict the use of the Youth Basic Income to specific, purpose-driven categories to support youth self-development. However, in consideration of guaranteeing basic rights for youth and revitalizing the local economy, the province decided to expand the usage area and relax sales restrictions only for academy tuition fees and test application fees.

Accordingly, starting in September, the usage area and eligible locations for academy tuition fees and test application fees will be expanded. For these categories, the local currency can be used throughout Gyeonggi Province regardless of the business's sales volume, and online payments will also be possible. Online learning platforms and qualification test sites will be gradually included through ongoing agreements.
