Joo Dukhyun, Chairman of the Seoul Citizen Audit Ombudsman Committee, participated as a lecturer at the Youth Employment Mentoring Festa. From June 19 to 21, he gave a special employment lecture for young people at the '2025 Seoul Youth Employment Mentoring Festa' held in Seongsu-dong and hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. During the lecture, he introduced the concept of the ombudsman and shared his know-how on preparing for public sector interviews.


Chairman Joo emphasized, "Even if you fail, you should build up your interview skills through challenges," and explained the career recruitment system based on his own experiences. Having started his career as a newspaper reporter, Joo became a public official through the career recruitment process and worked at various government agencies. He worked as a field reporter at Seoul Shinmun for 16 years before being specially recruited as a senior officer at the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, where he served as a grievance investigator, head of the police civil complaints division, head of the national defense and veterans civil complaints division, and head of the social system improvement division.


After serving for two years as the spokesperson for the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, an open position, he returned to the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission and retired after serving as the director of grievance review. In March, he published a book titled "Ombudsman, the Problem Solver for Civil Complaints," which covers the history, current status, and operational know-how of the ombudsman system. The book introduces ombudsman systems operating in more than 140 countries worldwide, as well as domestic systems such as the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission and the citizen grievance committees of 94 local governments across Korea.


Last month, he was appointed as the chairman of the Ombudsman Committee as an open-position public official in Seoul. Chairman Joo stated, "The ombudsman system is a great way for citizens to resolve unfair situations without any cost," and added, "I will do my best to ensure that citizens actively utilize the ombudsman system."


Meanwhile, as an expert on malicious and unusual civil complaints, Chairman Joo will also serve as a lecturer at related workshops for the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission this month and next month. He is also preparing integrity lectures for Seoul city employees as a certified integrity education instructor.
