Dongmyung University has become the only domestic university to newly enter the rankings (1401+) among Korean universities in the 2026 QS World University Rankings, released by the UK-based global university evaluation agency QS (Quacquarelli Symonds).
The QS World University Rankings is a globally recognized university evaluation index that has been conducted since 2004. For the 2026 assessment, approximately 8,000 universities worldwide were analyzed, and rankings for the top 1,500 universities were announced.
This year's assessment was based on nine major indicators: ▲Academic reputation (30%) ▲Citations per faculty (20%) ▲Employer reputation (15%) ▲Student-to-faculty ratio (10%) ▲International faculty ratio (5%) ▲International student ratio (5%) ▲International research network (5%) ▲Employment outcomes (5%) ▲Sustainability (5%).
Notably, starting this year, a new indicator for the diversity of international student nationalities was introduced, signaling a possible shift toward a more internationalization-focused evaluation method in the future.
In the 2026 QS World University Rankings, 43 Korean universities were included, with Dongmyung University being the only newly listed institution. This achievement is regarded as the result of Dongmyung University's ongoing implementation and execution of its internationalization strategy over recent years.
This is a symbolic accomplishment that demonstrates Dongmyung University's leap from a Busan-based regional university to a world-class educational institution. It is expected to serve as a major turning point in enhancing the university's global brand value in the future.
Previously, Dongmyung University received the highest rating of '5 Stars' in the 2024 QS Stars evaluation, which recognized its global educational quality. According to university officials, this provided a foundation for this entry into the QS World University Rankings.
