The Ulleung Education Support Office in North Gyeongsang Province conducted professional training on June 19 for personnel responsible for handling cases of school violence, such as designated teachers for school violence and health teachers at elementary, middle, and high schools within its jurisdiction. The training focused on those responsible for addressing sexual harassment, sexual violence, and child abuse cases within schools.

This training was organized to enhance the capacity of school staff to respond to various sexual issues and child abuse that may occur within schools, and to help them accurately understand legal and administrative procedures. In particular, the program focused on exploring swift and accurate response measures in real-life situations by providing practical, case-based education, including digital sexual violence, which has recently become a significant social issue.
The core instructor for the training was Kim Soyoung, a teacher at Jeodong Elementary School, who led the session. Based on her extensive experience in responding to sexual harassment and sexual violence in schools and operating the Sexual Grievance Deliberation Committee, Kim delivered a practical, hands-on lecture that received positive feedback from participants.
The training covered key topics such as response procedures for each case of sexual harassment, sexual violence, and child abuse; guidelines for operating the Sexual Grievance Deliberation Committee and understanding relevant laws and regulations; and the importance of protective measures for reporters and victims.
Lee Dongshin, Superintendent of Ulleung Education, stated, "Sexual harassment, sexual violence, and child abuse within schools are serious matters that require firm and professional responses." He added, "Through this training, we will continue to support staff in developing appropriate initial response capabilities when incidents occur, so that both students and staff can live in a safe educational environment."
The Ulleung Education Support Office plans to continue fostering a safer and more respectful school culture by enhancing gender sensitivity, improving protection systems for students and staff, and strengthening digital sex crime prevention education.
