Seongdong District Supports "1000 Won Breakfast" for Hanyang University Students

On June 22, Seongdong District in Seoul announced that it will support the "1000 Won Breakfast" program for Hanyang University students. This initiative is a youth welfare policy aimed at reducing the breakfast skipping rate among university students and supporting balanced eating habits, at a time when the continuous rise in prices is increasing students' meal expenses.

Seongdong District has signed a business agreement with Hanyang University for the "1000 Won Breakfast Support Program for University Students." As a result, starting this month and including the vacation period, students can enjoy a nutritious breakfast at the student cafeteria every day from 8:20 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. for the affordable price of 1,000 won. The meal cost is shared as follows: the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs covers 2,000 won, while the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Seongdong District, and the university each contribute 1,000 won.

This program is expected to have a positive impact not only on helping students develop healthy eating habits, improve their academic concentration, and reduce their meal expenses, but also on promoting domestic rice production and consumption. In particular, on June 13, Jung Woonoh, Mayor of Seongdong District, visited Hanyang University to experience the "1000 Won Breakfast" firsthand and spent time communicating with students.

Jung Woonoh, Mayor of Seongdong District, stated, "I expect the '1000 Won Breakfast' support program will greatly help ease students' meal expenses and support their healthy growth," adding, "We will do our best to implement high-quality policies by actively reflecting the voices from the school field so that the community, the university, and students can grow together."
