Michelle Obama, Amid Divorce Rumors, Says "I'm Glad I Didn't Have a Son" on Podcast Appearance

"If I Had a Son, He Would Have Become Barack Obama,"
Michelle Obama Draws Attention with Candid Remark

Former U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama, who have been the subject of divorce rumors, have drawn attention after Michelle appeared to criticize her husband during a public broadcast.

On June 22, Yonhap News cited the UK daily The Telegraph, reporting that Michelle made remarks during an appearance on a radio podcast with her younger brother, Craig Robinson. During the show, Michelle said, "I'm really glad I didn't have a son. Because if I had, he would have become Barack Obama."

When the host commented, "A little Barack, that would have been great," Michelle replied, "No, I think I would have felt sorry for him."

Michelle also seemed to indirectly criticize her husband, who has been devoted to improving his golf skills since leaving office.

She stated, "Parenting is like fly fishing. I've never tried fly fishing, but from what I've seen, it seems to be all in the wrist. It requires a very delicate balance," adding, "It's not just about tossing, throwing, and snatching. Let's go fly fishing instead. It's better than golf."

Recently, Michelle was spotted by the media vacationing in Mallorca, Spain, accompanied only by her two daughters, Sasha and Malia.

Mrs. Obama has recently been absent from official events, fueling speculation about a possible divorce from the former president. On January 9, at the funeral for former President Jimmy Carter held at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., as well as at the inauguration ceremony for President Donald Trump, Barack Obama appeared alone.

Regarding these rumors, Michelle has denied the divorce speculation, saying, "People don't understand the decisions I've made and simply assume I've divorced my husband. If there had been any issues between us, everyone would have known," she said. Earlier this month, she also described her husband as "a wonderful father."

The Obamas have been married for 32 years. In her 2018 memoir "Becoming," Michelle publicly revealed that married life was difficult during their time in the White House. She said she felt lonely and was in a state of exhaustion at that time.
