LS Marine Solution to Build Submarine Optical Communication Cables on Southern Coast with Global Tech Companies Participating

Scheduled for Construction from This Year to 2027
Part of Submarine Communication Network Expansion Project

LS Marine Solution will participate in large-scale submarine communication network construction projects led by global tech companies.

On June 20, LS Marine Solution announced that it plans to install submarine optical communication cables along approximately 230 kilometers of the southern coast from 2025 to 2027.

This project is part of the submarine communication network expansion initiatives driven by major global tech companies to address the surging global data traffic demand resulting from the proliferation of AI (artificial intelligence) and cloud technologies.

Submarine optical cables are a core digital infrastructure that enables ultra-high-speed transmission between data centers, AI servers, and cloud hubs, and recently, global investment and demand for these cables have been rapidly increasing.

LS Marine Solution is a specialized contractor that has been constructing inter-country submarine optical communication networks, primarily in East Asian waters, for over 30 years. In this project as well, the company plans to ensure both stability and quality by leveraging its accumulated construction experience and advanced marine engineering capabilities.

Based on its expertise in communication network construction, LS Marine Solution is actively expanding its business into the offshore wind power and power grid sectors. Recently, the company signed a submarine cable installation contract worth $15.8 million for an offshore wind power project in Taiwan, and has also begun building one of the world's largest HVDC (high-voltage direct current) specialized cable-laying vessels.

Kim Byungok, CEO of LS Marine Solution, stated, "We will continue to strengthen our submarine network construction capabilities to keep pace with the growing data infrastructure demands of global tech companies leading the AI era," adding, "We will solidify our position as a comprehensive submarine infrastructure contractor that covers both communication and power networks."
