Introducing Healthy Menu Featuring Smart Farm Produce
On June 20, Gangbuk District in Seoul announced that it held the opening ceremony for the youth food trailer 'Food Cafe Gilgaon' in front of the Gangbuk Smart Farm Center on June 17.
'Food Cafe Gilgaon' is a space that sells healthy ready-to-eat meals and desserts made with fresh produce grown at the Gangbuk Smart Farm Center. It is gaining attention as a key platform that connects support for youth entrepreneurship with the local food circulation system.

The newly opened 'Food Cafe Gilgaon' is the first achievement of the 'Food Trailer Youth Entrepreneur Incubation Project' led by Gangbuk Youth Startup Maru. This project supports aspiring and returning young entrepreneurs aged 19 to 39 by providing food trailers, business spaces, and equipment. It also offers comprehensive support throughout the entire business process, from developing menus based on smart farm produce to startup consulting, promotion, and market development.
In April, the district signed an agreement with the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Kwangwoon University to recruit and select young entrepreneurs, providing preliminary training and menu consulting. The operation of the food trailer is managed by Gangbuk Youth Startup Maru, a youth entrepreneurship incubator in Gangbuk District, while menu development was enhanced through collaboration with 'Coffee Possibility,' a local coffee company.
Lee Sunhee, the mayor of Gangbuk District, personally ordered from the menu at 'Food Cafe Gilgaon' and became the first customer of the food trailer by making a QR payment with the 'Gangbuk Love Gift Certificate,' showing support for the youth entrepreneur's first day of business.
'Food Cafe Gilgaon' offers healthy ready-to-eat meals and desserts made with smart farm produce such as arugula, strawberries, and European vegetables. It operates from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., in the courtyard in front of the Gangbuk Smart Farm Center (973 Hancheon-ro). The cafe is closed on Mondays.
Meanwhile, Gangbuk District operates a total of two smart farms: one at the Beon-dong Center and another at the Uidong cultivation complex. Produce grown at these locations is distributed through various channels, including the food trailer, the vending machine at the direct sales store on the first floor of the center, excellent restaurants on the 4.19 Cafe Street, and donations to the food bank.
Going forward, Gangbuk District plans to continue policy support with the goal of developing its smart farm brand, 'Bukhansan Farm,' into a signature Gangbuk-style brand representing urban agriculture.
