Hanwha Life Financial Services announced on June 20 that it was selected as an outstanding company in the "2025 First Half Cyber Crisis Response Simulation Training," jointly hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency.
This simulation training was the largest cyber response exercise ever held in South Korea, with a total of 688 major domestic companies and 255,765 participants. The exercise comprehensively evaluated each company's response system using scenarios based on simulated real-world cyberattack situations.
Among all participants, only six companies were selected as outstanding. In the finance and insurance sector, Hanwha Life Financial Services was the only company to receive this recognition.
The Cyber Crisis Response Simulation Training is a government-led program that has been held annually since 2004. Its goal is to enable companies to quickly and systematically respond to cyber crisis situations and to prevent such crises from occurring.
The training included a variety of scenarios: sending phishing emails to employees and checking response procedures; assessing detection and response capabilities to Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks; conducting simulated intrusions on company websites; and evaluating detection and response capabilities to vulnerability exploit codes.
Hanwha Life Financial Services was the first in the corporate insurance agency (GA) industry to obtain the Personal Information and Information Security Management System Certification (ISMS-P). Since then, the company has continuously invested in strengthening its information security and personal information protection capabilities, and has established a systematic response framework. In this year's simulation training, which was the company's first participation, these efforts were recognized, resulting in its selection as an outstanding company.
Son Youngmok, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of Hanwha Life Financial Services, said, "Following our earlier achievement of ISMS-P certification, being named an outstanding company in this cyber crisis response simulation training proves that our security system is operating effectively," adding, "We will continue to do our utmost to protect our customers' valuable information and provide even safer services."
In February, Hanwha Life Financial Services became the first in the GA industry to obtain the nationally accredited ISMS-P certification. In December of last year, the company received an A+ rating from the nation's three major credit rating agencies.
