Naver announced on June 20 that it has published the '2024 Integrated Report,' which details its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management efforts and achievements throughout 2024.
This integrated report introduces ESG implementation cases across business areas such as search platform, commerce, and fintech. Notable examples include 'Fast Settlement,' which supports the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises, the 'Safe Guarantee Program,' which prevents counterfeit and hazardous products, and 'Clova Care Call,' which provides care services for elderly people living alone and single-person households in middle age.
Additionally, the report newly added a section called 'Technology for People,' which is tailored to IT platform companies. Naver presented its technology-based ESG strategies and plans, including the safe development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, the expansion of digital inclusivity, and user protection. A new 'Service Stability' section was also introduced, disclosing goals and systems for providing stable services during disasters, emergencies, or service disruptions.
Specific plans for the 'Impact Fund' were also revealed. Naver will invest a total of 1 trillion won by 2030, divided into three areas: Tech Impact, Business Impact, and Community Impact. The company plans to operate nationwide AI campaigns, AI and software (SW) education programs for adults, and a growth mileage program to help sellers scale up their businesses.
The report also includes the results of sustainable management practices in the environmental and governance sectors. Last year, Naver reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by a total of 30,925 tCO2eq (tons of carbon dioxide equivalent). Of this, 9,144 tCO2eq was reduced through the use of renewable energy. Naver also received an AA grade in its Fair Trade Compliance Program.
Meanwhile, Naver stated that it will continue its efforts for sustainability in key areas such as personal information protection, human capital management, information security, and greenhouse gas and energy management.
