On May 4, in recognition of International Firefighters' Day, Kakao Pay held a support campaign for the wildfire prevention and suppression team that played a key role at major wildfire sites in the Yeongnam region.
Kakao Pay reported that, by combining citizen donations collected through the campaign held from April 30 to June 16 with its own contributions, a total support fund of approximately 110 million won was raised.
The fund will be delivered to the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Wildfire Prevention Center through Baboeui Nanum.
Yoongeun Lee, Head of Kakao Pay Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) Committee, said, "The significance of this initiative lies in the fact that the fund was created together with people who empathize with the hard work of the suppression team," and added, "Going forward, Kakao Pay will continue to promote mutually beneficial activities as a company that creates positive change with its users and communicates with local communities."
