On June 19, President Lee Jaemyung introduced a platform where citizens can directly propose and discuss policies with the president.
On this day, President Lee announced via Facebook, "In order to realize the principle of popular sovereignty enshrined in the Constitution, we have newly established an online citizen communication platform, tentatively named 'Suggestions to President Lee Jaemyung.'"
The platform allows citizens to submit their opinions on all areas that affect their daily lives and future, including the economy, society, politics, diplomacy, and culture. The government plans to review citizen proposals through a process of public discussion and ensure that they can be reflected in actual policy.
The name of the platform will also be solicited from the public. President Lee said, "I hope you will freely submit creative and meaningful ideas," and introduced that "the platform will be open until July 23, so please feel free to take your time submitting your suggestions."
Regarding the platform, President Lee explained, "It will go beyond the traditional role of a civil complaint channel and become a venue for direct democracy where citizens can directly propose policies, freely debate, and create real change together with the Lee Jaemyung administration."
He added, "I hope that through this space, the will of the people will become the center of state affairs and that public participation will lead to 'real change.'"
Citizens who wish to participate can access the platform's website (https://www.pcpp.go.kr), complete the authentication process, and register their opinions.
