All Water Facilities Free of Charge; Safety Personnel Stationed at Water Playgrounds at All Times
Open from June to September; Daily Operation from July 23 to August 24
Gimpo City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Byungsoo) announced on June 19 that it will officially operate 36 water play facilities starting June 21, as the summer heat begins in earnest.
All water facilities, including water playgrounds and ground fountains, are open to everyone free of charge. At the water playgrounds, safety personnel who have completed first aid training will be stationed at all times to prevent accidents.
In June and September, the facilities will be open only on weekends. In July and August, they will operate from Wednesday to Sunday, and during the summer vacation period (July 23 to August 24), they will be open every day. The water facilities will operate from 1:00 p.m. to 5:40 p.m., with a cycle of 40 minutes of operation followed by a 20-minute break, for a total of five sessions per day.
Except during the summer vacation period, the facilities will be closed every Monday and Tuesday for maintenance, inspection, and cleaning. Operation will also be suspended during the rainy season or in the event of rain.
In particular, Geolpo Central Park (1553 Geolpo-dong) is scheduled to open its water playground on July 2. Hangang Central Park (2001-1 Janggi-dong) will offer nighttime operation until 9:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays during the summer vacation period.
Before opening the 36 water play facilities, Gimpo City is thoroughly conducting pre-inspections and water quality tests to ensure safe and pleasant operation.
Mayor Kim Byungsoo stated, "Gimpo City will do its utmost to manage water quality and facility safety so that citizens can enjoy water play with peace of mind," adding, "We will continue to work to create a pleasant and enjoyable water recreation environment for everyone."
