Promises Full Support for Strengthening Textile Industry Competitiveness
Kang Suhyun, mayor of Yangju, attended the 12th Gyeonggi Textile Day ceremony held on the 18th at the Gyeonggi Textile Comprehensive Support Center Convention Hall, where she encouraged local textile and fashion industry workers and expressed her commitment to supporting the development of the industry.

The event, hosted by the Gyeonggi Textile Industry Association (Chairman Cho Changseop), included awards for those who have contributed to the textile industry, the presentation of scholarship certificates, commemorative speeches, and congratulatory remarks.
More than 200 people attended, including Mayor Kang Suhyun, National Assembly member Jung Sungho, Yangju City Council members, Baek Younghyeon, mayor of Pocheon, representatives from textile and fashion companies, and officials from related organizations.
In her congratulatory speech, Mayor Kang said, "On the occasion of the 12th Gyeonggi Textile Day, I would like to express my deep gratitude to all those in the textile industry who have led the development of the sector with relentless passion and dedication," adding, "I also sincerely congratulate the businesspeople who have been honored with awards."
She continued, "The overall conditions in the industry are extremely difficult due to various internal and external challenges, such as tariff sanctions imposed by major countries including the United States, prolonged contraction in consumption, and rising energy and raw material prices." She added, "In particular, the textile industry is a representative sector that is directly affected by these factors, and I am well aware that many companies are struggling to survive."
Mayor Kang Suhyun also emphasized, "The recent designation of the Geomjun General Industrial Complex as a 'specialized root industry complex' will be a major turning point for improving the constitution and enhancing the competitiveness of local textile companies. Yangju City will do its utmost to provide practical support by reflecting the voices from the field in various areas, including technological innovation, industrial structure advancement, talent development, and export support."
Meanwhile, since its establishment in 2013, the Gyeonggi Textile Industry Association has played various platform roles aimed at the sustainable growth of the textile industry in Gyeonggi Province, including strengthening the innovation capabilities of small and medium-sized textile companies and enhancing the commercialization capacity of creative and convergent textile products.
